Remember that series of rotating fox face sketches I did? I tried out some coloring tricks. I’m not 100% happy with the shape of Saskira’s head, but I think I like how this coloring style is working out better than the half-shaded, half-lineart thing I tried earlier.

One last prototype comic, that of course now makes no sense, because MAGIC ISN’T REAL DUH. One thing I’ve been trying to tighten up is my consistency across panels…If you look at the lamps, you can see that one lamp is slightly different than the other! How lazy! On another note, though, here’s a third character. His name is Cassini. He is awesome. He thinks he’s on a satellite.

Some Arctic terns, and it was pointed out to me that the background color makes it seem like one tern is MISSING HIS BRAIN. This resulted in a tern character who constantly shows up, knows he’s in the right place or on time, and yet is always in the wrong place or too late or too early. Defective beak compass, etc.

See? Soft shading looks oodles better, and more snowy. Color test to see how far three main colors could go. Yes they have pantones. Yes I am branding the heck out of this project.

Yeah, see, cel-shading’s not working out so much here. Still find these poses to be in-character for Saskira, but, as has been stated before, the hammer is no longer canon.

I felt like the cel-shading here was too busy, and snowy areas aren’t all that busy-looking. So after this I decided to rely exclusively on soft shading and gestalt lineart. The character’s name is Pora Bear. He is a polar bear!
