Another chalk and charcoal attempt. Here, I was too aggressive with the white chalk, which I feel flattens the model out somewhat too much.

Trying out white chalk and charcoal on warm gray paper. The supplies were an impulse buy as I waited for my car to get its oil changed.

Here she is, finished. I like the ratio of polish to sketch I ended up with. Sometimes time limits are a good thing. :)

Starting to work in some lights…Some shadows too but mostly lights first. Not sure why I gravitate towards the lighter areas in the beginning of rendering.

A work in progress of a different model, I took a snapshot. This one ended up pretty well in the end, I’m happy with it.

Yeah, it looks polished enough but it’s like…It’s missing the vivacity the WIP had, you know? I think it’s the straight lines that form the brickwork behind him, and I also didn’t have NEARLY enough time to do his tats justice.
Not to be all downers on myself, self-crit’s just something I do to learn. I never want to be in a position where I feel I can’t examine my artwork and think about how it’s working or not working.

A work-in-progress of a reclining model.
